Description:
Library versions 1.6.3 and earlier contain a bug which causes them to be unable
to perform certain operations on a group if that group's symbol table
information is not cached in the parent group's symbol table. Versions 1.8.0
to 1.8.5 did not cache this information. Modified library to cache this
information.

were flagged by valgrind. [There's still some more valgrind warnings, but

Commit metadata tagging framework.
Description:
This check-in contains a new framework whose goal is to apply
a tag value to each new entry in the metadata cache as it is created.
This tag value is such that it relates each piece of metadata to the
HDF5 object that it belongs to (dataset, group, et cetera).
This changeset includes the framework that applies the tags as
well as a suite of tests to verify correct tag application, though does
not yet make use of the tag values to flush/evict individual objects.
Please refer to the "flush/evict individual objects" RFC for further
discussion of these changes.

Bring new object header pin/unpin & protect/unprotect routines and
split-out object header chunk proxy changes from metadata_journaling branch to

Also: clean up chunk protect/unprotect calls when allocating or freeing
space in a chunk, optimize metadata accumulator code to avoid some re-reading
of information from the file, refactor H5O_pin/H5O_unpin from way they are done

Description:
Attempting to copy an object with NULL references (all bytes zero) with the
H5O_COPY_EXPAND_REFERENCE_FLAG flag set would cause a failure or an assertion
(depending on whether it was in debug mode). Changed copy routine to detect
NULL references (object and region) and avoid attempting to expand the reference
in this case.

Description:
Support for expanding external links was not implemented in H5Ocopy, even though
a flag existed for H5Pset_copy_object to enable this. This patch implements
this feature.

Description:
Previously, the library would reopen the source file when traversing an external
link if unable to find the target file otherwise. This has been corrected.
Also moved the call to H5F_flush from H5F_try_close to H5F_dest, so the file is
only flushed when the last identifier for the file is closed. This prevernts
situations where the library could attempt to flush a file with protected
metadata.

skip list package to avoid calling rand() and srand(), even on machines without

Add 'notify' callback to metadata cache clients, so that they can be
aware when the cache has taken/will take certain actions. Notifications are
urrently limited to when an entry has successfully entered the cache (via an
insertion or a load from the file) and when an entry is about to be evicted
from the cache.

Description: When attempting to copy an object with a message shared in its own
object header, the library attempts to protect the same object header twice.
Previously, it was possible for the object header to be protected with write
access in one or both of these protects, which would be illegal. The library
should now always protect with read only access in this case. The conditions
for fixing incorrect datatype versions have been made weaker to support this
change. The version will only be corrected if the object header the datatype
is in is modified.

Centralize all macros for declaring "magic numbers"/signatures for
objects in the file into src/H5Fprivate.h, so it's easier to know what values
have already been defined, etc.

Description: The library now recognizes some problems with datatype versions in
H5O_decode_helper(), and, if not performing strict format checks, automatically
corrects them. Framework added for other message decode routines to
automatically correct file errors. Datatype version information added to
h5debug.

Fixed a bug at copying shared reg_ref attribute. The ref values of an attribute
was not writen in file. The post_copy_file() at H5Oattr.c only updates the value
in memory.
To fix the problem, we added H5O_shared_post_copy_file(), which delete the attribute
in file (with the incorrect value) and create an new attribute with the correct values.
I added the following functions:

Check in "unique, but sharable" optimization to ISOHM code, which
allows object header messages that are only used in one object to remain in
the sole user's header, but migrates messages that are used in more than one
header into the ISOHM heap.

Add "fail if unknown" and "mark if unknown" flags to object header messages.
This gives the library a clean way to tell older libraries that a message should
not be just ignored if it's unknown, but that other actions should occur.

Eliminate storing # of links in "link info" message, regenerate it
when the object is opened instead.

Move ref. count of # of links to an object out of the object header's
prefix and make it a header message instead (since it's a "rare" occurence),
eliminating some more space for each object in the file.
Inserting this "ref. count" message exposed a flaw in the library's
mechanism for locating a message to promote to another chunk and replace
with a continuation message, which required some additional work to fix.
It's still not completely robust, but it's working for more cases now and
detects failures robustly.
Reduced the minimum size of an object header chunk to just enough to
contain a header message prefix and continuation message.

The static szip libraries are working as intended, but when shared szip
libraries are present and intended for use they cannot be opened. A check
has been implemented to test if shared szip libraries are functional on
current platform. If they are not, and the user is trying to use them,
szip is now disbaled and the user is informed.
This issue occurs on kagiso, and the resolution was tested on kagiso.

Kagiso only since it is only a comment block change. If it works in one
machine, it should work in all, I hope. Still need to check the parallel
build on copper.
